而鑾鼻 (Erluanbi)

Er Luanbi National Park

Introduction
Located near the coast of Hengchun town, Er Luanbi National Park is a recreational area comprising of many tourist attraction. During the trip, the group visited key areas in the mentioned park such as a Green Radar Dome which helps to measure the weather, Er Luanbi Lighthouse located near the entrance to the area and Taiwan’s Southernmost Tip, located near the shore.


The Lighthouse
The Er Luanbi lighthouse, also known as “The Light of East Asia”, is built in between the Pacific Ocean and the Taiwan Strait facing the Luzon Straits. This allows the lighthouse to have an unblocked view of the ocean. The lighthouse is opened for the public and it is located south of Hengchun in Pingtung County, Taiwan. It was first built during 1883 to prevent accidents happening due to hidden reefs and it was heavily armed.

Taiwan’s Southernmost Point
This is the southernmost point of the island itself, marked by the statue. It is located 500 metres down a path from the carpark next to the lighthouse. Right before we left this point, we took a group photo. It is located between the famous Eluanbi and the ecological reserve area of Longkeng.


Kenting Weather Radar Station
The Kenting Weather Radar stations is one of many weather stations in Taiwan. This particular station is located in the southern region of Taiwan. In the past, the weather station has tracked the migration of birds so that there could be a mitigation to conserve some species of birds as there might be situations where poachers might shoot down the birds. For 30 years, their hard work has paid off to protect the birds from harm.
